Navigating Imposter Syndrome
Online Workshop
“My sincere thanks again for delivering such a helpful, warm and much-needed training resource to our Connect cohort….I met with one of our mentees yesterday…and they commented on how helpful this training was as they take on a more senior role in the industry. It was heart-warming to see their growth in confidence and to hear that they’d put some of your tools into practice, so a huge thanks for that.” Cassandra Neal, New Talent and Industry Manager, BAFTA
Overview
An engaging, experiential and practical online workshop designed to give participants a good understanding of Imposter Syndrome plus the means to navigate their ‘imposter’ experiences with greater awareness, compassion, confidence and trust, helping them experience greater personal and professional fulfilment, and contribute more of their potential.
This highly practical session builds awareness and resilience in a relatively short (2.5 hour) but highly impactful session and is ideal for people who are interested in my flagship online course but cannot commit to a learning journey of 4 weeks.
After 12 successful years, I will be closing Lead From Within at the end of April to take a new direction (more about this). There is still time to book one or more Navigating Imposter Syndrome workshops for your organisation if you are interested. Please get in touch and we can explore your needs.
Learning Objectives
gain a sound understanding of what imposter syndrome is through an exploration of the common cognitive, psychological, emotional and physical ‘symptoms’;
explore the causes of Imposter Syndrome to understand why it commonly manifests as an active inner critic; low self-worth and self-confidence; limiting and debilitating beliefs; excessive self-doubt; shame and fear;
better understand how and when Imposter Syndrome is impacting you personally, particularly how it may be holding you back;
understand some of the key systemic and situational drivers of Imposter Syndrome including how it impacts different genders, racialised groups, and people from oppressed or marginalised backgrounds;
discover a range of practical actions and compassion-based practices you can begin using immediately to help you navigate ‘imposter’ symptoms and situations with greater skill and ease, specifically:
understand and work more compassionately with your inner critic;
identify when you are being drained by one or more of the common ‘compensatory’ behaviours of Imposter Syndrome: Perfectionism, Procrastination, Powering through; People Pleasing
learn how to dial these behaviours down by applying the ‘Leaderful Cs’ of Clarity; Calm; Curiosity and Compassion;
ask questions and bring live ‘imposter’ issues questions for skilled and compassionate coaching/mentoring in a safe, courageous and supportive environment;
grow in personal and professional confidence.

Guide to content
A blend of knowledge-sharing, interactive segments, self-inquiry, small group work in break-out rooms, experiential practices plus discussion with individual and group coaching/mentoring as time permits.
We will explore knowledge and insights from a range of disciplines and wisdom traditions plus proven skills, models and practices which cultivate imposter resilience and resourcefulness, immediately and over time.
Content is informed by the 8 years I’ve spent exploring and teaching this work, and continues to evolve in response to emerging wisdom and practices. The session is also shaped and informed by the lived experiences of the many people who have engaged with my work in this area during this time.
Navigating Imposter Syndome is designed for groups of up to 12 colleagues to allow time for inquiry, reflection, practice, sharing and discussion, and questions.
Please contact me for full details and/or an informal chat about your learning needs.
Before and after
Before this workshop, participants are sent a short document featuring Group Agreements, a recommended TED talk and some optional inquiry questions to explore in advance.
To deepen your exploration of key themes and practices, after the workshop, I provide a curated selection of resources to support your on-going journey.
Learning environment
Navigating Imposter Syndrome has been designed to invite your curiosity, openness and courage in the name of your and the group’s growth and learning.
We will journey together as a safe, respectful and supportive group in which we are present to each other as we share our experiences.
There are opportunities to share throughout. Your personal reflections and experiences are welcomed and encouraged, with no pressure to share if you do not wish to.
This work can be particularly impactful for women and people of all genders from non-dominant cultural backgrounds or from marginalised and/or oppressed groups. That said, increasing numbers of men are coming to this work and sharing their ‘imposter’ experiences. My aim is to create safe, supportive and welcoming spaces for everyone drawn to this session.
Format
Navigating Imposter Syndome is facilitated as a live interactive session via Zoom;
The workshop lasts 2.5 hours with a short comfort break midway.
